NOMINEE for the Ravenscroft-sponsored Angel of the Year Award Charles Fears has been described as funny, approachable, professional and caring.

‘Chas is so amazing in aiding people with mental health problems,’ said his nominator Victoria Weldon.

‘[He] is always willing to stop and talk to anyone.’

Mr Fears, who works at the Oberlands Centre, the adult mental health service, as a support worker in recovery and rehabilitation, helped the family of Ms Weldon when they needed it most.

‘Chas was a massive support to my mum, my family and I when my mum was ill and in hospital,’ she said.

‘I feel he is an absolute asset to the mental health service and deserves recognition as well as much, much more.

‘To this day, whenever I see him, he instantly recognises me and always asks after my mum, me and my family and he genuinely cares, despite her no longer being in full time care.’

She added: ‘I know Chas has had his own fair share of problems outside of work, but whenever I see him, he’s always smiling and always putting people before himself.

‘This is only a fraction of thanks and what he deserves for such an amazing job that he does.’
