NIGEL CLARKE has been nominated for the Butterfield-sponsored Conservation Hero of the Year award through his involvement with Green Legacy Guernsey and his creation of an ‘allergy friendly’ plant centre.

Mr Clarke was recognised by Peter Prakke, a fellow keen environmentalist.

‘Nigel is known for his horticultural knowledge and passion to educate children about nature and our environment that surrounds us.

‘His involvement with Green Legacy Guernsey and his help to beautify the island are worth mentioning.’

Green Legacy is a company that helps to provide environmental, social and economic benefits through planting allergy-friendly plants and teaching people the value of plants.

‘Nigel has built a great allergy-friendly, family-driven plant centre with caring staff in the Queux Plant Centre.

‘It is the first plant centre in the world to have allergy-friendly plants, shrubs and trees, to the delight of the many asthma, allergy and COPD sufferers.

‘He is deserving of this award for the passion he has shown with the “children first” attitude over the years.’
