GRACIE WHITWAM, 9, has been nominated for the Close Finance-sponsored Overcoming Adversity Award after she fought leukemia and relapsed last year.

Gracie’s auntie and nominator Rachel Tyson said the relapse happened two days after Gracie’s ninth birthday.

‘Sadly at the end of last year we found out that Gracie relapsed and in February this year she had a bone marrow transplant.’

‘Her donor was her five-year-old brother Oliver.’

After the transplant, Gracie and Oliver were not able to see each other while Gracie was in isolation at Bristol hospital.

Rachel said,’She never stops smiling, she is such an inspiration and we are all so proud of her.

‘She is so brave - she’s incredible.’
