Pride of Guernsey: St Peter Port constables’ maintenance team

EVIDENCE of the fine work of the St Peter Port constables’ maintenance team is all over the parish, according to one one man. Their nominator for the Parish Champion Award Andrew Pouteaux said you only had to look at Cambridge Park, the small triangle in the Rohais at the junction with Le Foulon, Candie Cemetery and the old cemetery off the Green Lanes to see the fruits of their labours.

Their nominator for the Parish Champion Award Andrew Pouteaux said you only had to look at Cambridge Park, the small triangle in the Rohais at the junction with Le Foulon, Candie Cemetery and the old cemetery off the Green Lanes to see the fruits of their labours.

‘Carry on around Town and look at the public seating with the parish shield on it,’ he said. ‘Quite likely it has been salvaged by the team, taken to their workshop and, under the leadership of Geoff le Gallez, cleaned up and painted before being put out in the street.’

Planters recently put in Upland Road had been salvaged, painted and put out to improve the parish.

‘There is so much more to say “Thank you, team” about,’ said Mr Pouteaux.

The current team is Mr Le Gallez, John Morris, Len Bullock and Dylan Indge.
