YVONNE LE PELLEY has been nominated for the Pride of Guernsey Carer of the Year Award.

‘Yvonne is secretary of La Nouvelle Maraitaine Community Association,’ said her nominator Mrs D. J. Zabiela for the Specsavers-sponsored award.

‘She has raised many funds for the residents, from funds for a wheelchair ramp to be fitted to the home’s bus to garden furniture, funds for resident outings including afternoon teas to Christmas presents for everyone and hospital bags with all the essentials for people when they go into hospital.’

Ms Le Pelley, who is in a wheelchair, set up the association three years ago and raises funds for it through bingo events.

‘She is constantly looking for raffle prizes for the bingo, which she runs every week, and takes charge of calling the bingo numbers out.

‘She does an amazing job and she deserves a chance to win this award.’
