A staff member at the GSPCA who is seen as ‘an angel for animals’ has been nominated for the Specsavers-sponsored Carer of the Year Award for her passion and helpfulness.

Nominator Luci Brucher, who adopted guinea pig Mack from the GSPCA, described Beckie Bailey as someone who goes above and beyond her role.

‘Beckie made time to show us all the available guinea pigs when we went to adopt one and explained all their individual requirements – you could tell she was genuinely so happy to see Mack find his forever home and really cared for him.

‘Sadly a few weeks ago we lost Mack – we were absolutely devastated – but Beckie was there to talk to us and has been nothing short of amazing. She made so much time for us.

‘She is so passionate about the animals she cares for, never have I known someone to be so helpful when needed, informative to others and of course, caring to animals,’ she said.

‘I can’t stress how lovely she is and how she always makes sure you’re happy and more importantly makes sure the animals are happy. Nothing is ever too much work for her. I can’t say enough to express how amazing she is.

She added: ‘The way Becky cares for animals is on another level – she knows every single animal on an individual level and cares for them all as her own.

‘I know she frequently takes home animals that need a bit of extra TLC to care for them while she’s not at work.

‘She is always there to greet you with a smile on her face.

‘I am sure there are many others who have dealt with Becky and also feel she deserves this award.’
