THE BAILIFF is encouraging islanders to nominate their local heroes for a Pride of Guernsey award.

Sir Richard Collas said he was delighted to hear that the Pride of Guernsey Awards would be once again held, for the fourth time, and that it was a great event for highlighting those in the community who go the extra mile to improve the lives of those around them.

‘I have enormous admiration for ordinary people who do extraordinary things,’ he said.

‘Guernsey is a small island and a small community and these extraordinary people are part of the fabric of island life.

‘I know they don’t do it for recognition but it is extremely important that we do recognise the differences that they make.’

Sir Richard said this was an important way to show appreciation to those who make a difference to Guernsey and also to encourage others to support community life and those around them, in whatever way is possible for them.

‘I don’t envy the judges that are going to have to select from the nominations this year but I look forward to seeing the details of the wonderful people who have been selected.

‘If you know someone who goes the extra mile for others, please do go on the website or pick up a form to nominate your local hero,’ said Sir Richard, pictured right.
