Pride of Guernsey: Marguerite Paul

FRIEND, grandmother and mother Marguerite Paul, 83, has been nominated for the A7 Design-sponsored Parish Champion of the Year award for her continuous help and devotion to the Forest parish.

She recently took the trouble to research, plan and lead a Victor Hugo walk in the area as part of the parish’s events linked with Britain in Bloom and Victor Hugo Week. She served tea and gache at her home.
Marguerite also interpreted the significance of what the members of the tour were seeing in relation to Toilers of the Sea, one of Hugo’s most famous works, over the course of the hour-long walk.
‘I understand that about 40 people came to the walk,’ the nominator said, ‘not bad for a grandmother of 14 and a mother of five.
‘She is very proud of the Forest parish.’
