A GRATEFUL daughter has used the Pride of Guernsey nominations to thank her parents for the help and support they have given to her over the years.
Daughter Helena nominated Jane and Derek Pearson for The Christies Group-sponsored Parent of the Year Award.
‘My parents deserve an award. They have always supported me,’ said Helena. ‘Nothing is ever too much trouble.’
‘Whether it is helping me through my marriage breakdown to supporting me financially to buy a property.’
They have also been a great support to one another, she said.
‘The last eight years we have had some tough times as my Dad collapsed and was in intensive care.’
At the time Derek became ill Helena was at university and Jane was a deputy head teacher at Ladies’ College.
‘She had to care for my Dad and I am so pleased she has retired now so she more time for herself,’ Helena said. ‘My Dad struggles every day but tries his best.
‘I want to say thank you as they have always been there for me, and as they are now retired it is time for me to take over and support them through retirement like they have supported me.’
