Unique medal for Pride of Guernsey winners

THEY are set to become one of the most exclusive badges of honour in Guernsey.

When the first ever 12 Guernsey Press Pride of Guernsey winners are announced, they will also be presented with specially-produced medals in recognition of their extraordinary achievements.

The beautiful 38mm pin-on engraved pieces display our awards crest on the front and bear the title of the winner’s accolade on the reverse.

They are also set off with distinguished purple drapes to match our Pride of Guernsey branding and come in a velvet presentation box in green, to represent the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

Medals, as opposed to trophies, were chosen in order to offer a memento distinct from other ceremonies and to allow the worthy winners to wear their tributes with pride, both on the night and throughout the year.

The very first 12 will be

presented at our Pride of Guernsey Awards on Saturday 8 October at our Guernsey Press Braye Road headquarters.

It will be transformed for the evening for a unique Oscars-style ceremony, in conjunction with Joy’s Production Services, and promises to ensure the winners will be the real stars of the show.

Our special guest host couple, Jo and Andy Priaulx, will be there to congratulate all the finalists, along with our award partners who will announce the winners and present them each with their medals and a dream prize worth £1,000.

The awards and their partners are: Emergency Hero (Rossborough), Neighbour (Swoffers), Carer (Specsavers), Grandparent/s (Channel Islands Co-op), Parent/s (Christies Group), Angel [for health care workers] (Ravenscroft), Teacher (Garenne), Parish Champion (OCS), Arts Contribution (Moonpig), Young Achiever (Butterfield), Overcoming Adversity (Guernsey College of Further Education) and Welcome of the Year (RefCo).
