Kirsty’s Ices van is a welcome sight to islanders during the summer months.
‘I nominated them because they come round my estate and they’re the perfect candidates because both are always so happy and smiley,’ said their nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘Kirsty and Dawn never fail to keep kids and dogs happy with their ice creams. They are always smiling regardless of how tired and hot they must be. They go out of their way to help everyone’s needs and are both so friendly. I think they definitely deserve a mention for their smiles and hard work.
‘They can’t do enough for everyone. I’ve seen the way they are with children – they’re always short [of money] and they always let them off.’
During lockdown, Kirsty was not able to sell her ice-creams, so instead would provide contactless services such as playing birthday music to brighten up their day.
‘The best thing is all the happy faces you see, it’s nostalgic for the adults and exciting for the kids,’ Kirsty said.
