Martine White has been nominated for the Overcoming Adversity award, sponsored by JT.

She has been suffering from migraines since she was eight years old, alongside enduring vertigo attacks and not having full body equilibrium, making daily tasks a challenge.

‘I remember I was in the bathroom one time, and I passed out on the floor and when I woke up, I couldn’t get up,’ Martine said.

During vertigo attacks Martine feels everything around her is spinning, making her feel on edge as she does not know when or where she is going to have an episode.

‘Martine is determined to keep her life as good as her work ethic and stays focused,’ said her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Despite her condition ‘Martine always tries to help others and puts a smile on her face even at the worst times’.

Since November, Martine has had Pinta her migraine alert dog, who allows her to have some normality.

‘She gives me something else to focus on, knowing she’s there and I’m not alone makes me more confident,’ she said.

‘I’m happy that what’s happening to me has inspired someone else, and they think I’ve handled the situation well.’

Pinta has made Martine’s condition more bearable and they now make a good pairing.

‘Martine and Pinta are now a team and are determined to show you should never give up, even at the worst of times,’ said her nominator.
