Ian Brown's consistent charitable presence has seen him nominated for Bailiwick Community Hero.
Following discussions in 2008 surrounding the Rock to Rocque cycling initiative not being challenging enough for keen cyclists, the bike shop owner came up with the 30/30 Cycle Challenge which sees islanders embark on 30 rides over the month of May. It has since raised more than £1,000,000 for Les Bourgs.
‘I’ve supported the charity for as long as it’s been around, it’s just so important to our island. Everybody has a connection to Les Bourgs and if we didn’t have it our options would be far fewer,’ said Mr Brown.
His nominator Racheal Day said his contribution to charity went a long way within the community.
‘He is extremely generous and pays for quite a lot towards this out of his own money. He’s been doing this for many years and I think he thoroughly deserves recognition.’
