‘A BLONEY marvel’ was how one nominator described Dr Nicola Brink in putting her forward as Angel of the Year.

The director of public health has received several nominations from people for the Ravenscroft-backed award for her work in helping the island tackle Covid-19.

‘Dr Brink has guided the whole community through one of the hardest times for Guernsey since World War Two,’ said Corey Le Prevost, one of several people who put Dr Brink’s name forward.

‘She has spoken at each press briefing with confidence and transparency. Dr Brink has been the rock to many people during the pandemic leading the way to Guernsey’s success during the global pandemic and I don’t think we would be where we are today without her guidance and all of her evidence. She is truly a superstar.’

‘She was a bloney marvel during the corona crisis,’ said Stuart Hardie.

‘One amazing lady who deserves recognition,’ said another nominator, while another praised her demeanour and her publishing of health data and answering questions.

‘Dr Brink got on with what she had to do in a calm and assuring way to stamp out this enemy from the island,’ said Bert and Brenda Fallaize in their nomination. ‘Nicky and her team deserve all the praise that islanders can given them.’

And one person didn’t think there was any need for details for nominating Dr Brink: ‘Well, enough said,’ they wrote.
