LEE FORSHAW has been put forward for the Pride of Guernsey HSBC-sponsored Teacher of the Year award for his role as a football coach for Sylvans Minis.

On behalf of all the parents of the children who attend the club’s Sylvan Minis, which caters for boys and girls from Reception year through to Year 7, Juliette Veron said Mr Forshaw deserved to be appreciated for his continual efforts in making the youngsters enjoy their time at the club – even during lockdown.

‘Lee has been coaching the minis at Sylvans for over seven years and goes above and beyond to make the football fun and bring out the best in our youngsters,’ she said.

‘Even in lockdown he was thinking up creative ways to keep the children amused, completely voluntarily.

‘People like him who give so much of their time and create so much enthusiasm for the sport deserve recognition – Lee is amazing with the children.’
