NICOLA INGROUILLE has been nominated for Teacher of the Year for her time at the Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre as an assistant head teacher with maths as her specialist subject.

Also heavily involved in the inclusion and safeguarding department at the school, Mrs Ingrouille, who will be moving to The Ladies’ College for the new school year, has been nominated for the HSBC-sponsored award by 17 year old student Jaime Sarre.

‘I think that this teacher is thoroughly deserving of this award because of her tremendous efforts during lockdown,’ said Jaime.

‘The students who attended the Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre during lockdown were supported by much of the Grammar school staff.

‘Mrs Ingrouille stood out to me because of her constant enthusiasm and ability to lift the mood throughout these uncertain months.’

She added that for her, Mrs Ingrouille went above and beyond her role as a teacher and made sure to reach out to those who found lockdown and the pandemic particularly challenging.

‘She kept my spirits high and helped put a smile on my face,’ she said.

‘She made it her mission to ensure every student felt supported and seen and I think this is highly commendable.

‘I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving.’
