Teacher of the Year: Alexander Holloway

DESCRIBED as a wonderful addition to Castel Primary School, Alexander Holloway has been nominated for Teacher of the Year.

Parent Jo De Mouilpied nominated Mr Holloway for the HSBC-sponsored award. He has taught both of her sons in Reception since his arrival in 2018.

She said he is much loved by all of the children he teaches.

‘His kind manner and incredible patience puts the children at ease,’ she said.

‘Neither of my sons fall under the typical male gender norms, but with support and encouragement from this amazing teacher they have both grown in confidence and their peers are very accepting of diversity.’

She added that Mr Holloway takes the time to make every child feel special and encouraged.

‘I love that the children now copy the expressions he teaches and use them to encourage each other – “practice makes progress” and “teamwork makes the dream work”,’ she said.

‘It is fantastic for the children of Castel Primary School to have such a great role model and I hope Mr Holloway continues to teach there for many years.’
