A SENIOR carer at Le Grand Courtil would be a worthy winner of the Carer of the Year award, according to a colleague.

Tracy Booth nominated Charmaine Gallienne for her outstanding and dedicated work.

‘Charmaine is always willing to help others before herself, she is also assisting staff to complete their care certificate and NVQs to further their careers and nothing is too much trouble for her,’ she said.

‘While Guernsey was in lockdown, she worked extra hours to keep people we care for safe. She was even sleeping on site, before she managed to stay in a hotel for three weeks.

‘She had to leave her home where she lives and cares for her 100-year-old mum, to ensure her mum was safe and did not come in contact with anyone that was working in the community.’

This was difficult for her but she kept going and remained happy in her work whilst ensuring that everyone was kept safe.
