THE granddaughter of Henry and Joyce Davey said they had taught her the life lessons that had enabled her to get her to where she was today.
Nominating the couple for the Channel Islands Co-operative Society-sponsored Grandparent/s of the Year award, Amba Champion said in times of crisis they had provided her with a safe, happy and stable home.
‘As well as being a grandma, she stepped into being a mum, sister and best friend all in one,’ Amba said.
‘She’s the nurse when we fall over and our personal advice consultant when the longer nights draw in.
‘Being just one out of the five of us grandchildren, I can also say that Grandpa has not just done his Grandpa duties. He’s been our personal football coach, taxi service, dog walker, ice-cream man and bank!
‘And as for the both of them together, they will always have everyone’s best interests at heart. Nothing will ever come before their grandchildren, and we’re all reminded of that by the constant care and support.’
