AN ‘OUTSTANDING woman’ who teaches at St Martin’s Primary School, has been nominated by the parents of a boy they say would not be the person he is today without her.
Nominated for the Garenne Teacher of the Year Award, Jen Ashworth has helped Emma and Adam Mourant’s son, who has additional educational and medical needs, to develop a routine that has improved his academic progress and self confidence.
‘Jen Ashworth has gone above and beyond to help and support our son... The care she has given, and the way she has adapted his daily routine during his school hours, has lessened the nausea, pain and lethargy he endures and this has given him more focus on his academic abilities.
‘She has managed to do this while still making sure he is included and has she maintained a positive attitude in our son’s outlook on learning. She is an outstanding woman and teacher, with a lovely motherly quality. She is adored by [our] son and our family,’ they said.
