Effort should be recognised

THE Young Achiever of the Year Award is aimed at those young people who deserve a special pat on the back, whether it be due to achievements in their studies or in a hobby, or a talent in sport or the arts. These youngsters will be hard-working and committed, yet their achievements may not fit into the more elite awards criteria, despite them being something of which we should all be rightly proud. Aged up to and including 17, they represent the community’s promise and deserve their time in the spotlight.

Butterfirld Back (GUERNSEY) LTD is delighted to be returning as a sponsor of the Young Achiever of the Year award for the Guernsey Press Pride of Guernsey awards 2018.
We are thrilled to be returning as a sponsor for our third year. The awards represent a fantastic opportunity to recognise all those that contribute so much to our community, yet who may not always receive the recognition they deserve.
As Butterfield Group grows internationally, following a year of expansion and acquisitions, our commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate remains as important as ever. Developing and nurturing the island’s talented young people and recognising their achievements has never been more at the forefront of Butterfield’s attention.
This is demonstrated through Butterfield’s bursary scheme and various sponsorships, including the Schools’ Music Service and Sailing Trust. The bank also supports a range of local clubs, associations and charities.
We know just how much the young people of our Bailiwick represent our future and we want to encourage and recognise their achievements. Last year, we saw footballer Maya Le Tissier win the Young Achiever of the Year award after she was nominated not only for her sporting success but also her efforts as a role model for young players and females.
We are really looking forward to finding out more about this year’s range of young talent our island has to offer and to giving them the appreciation they deserve through the Pride of Guernsey Awards.
Choosing a winner is never an easy task, the company will be welcoming nominations for ‘individuals who have shown a particular commitment to their cause’.
This will have been supported through their enthusiasm, dedication and determination towards achieving their goal.
As well as being crowned the Young Achiever of the Year, the winner will receive a prize of £1,000 donated by Butterfield.

Richard Saunders, managing director of Butterfield Bank (Guernsey) Limited.
